Eucharistic Adoration

What is Adoration?
In our parish, after the Tuesday morning Mass, the Blessed Lord is exposed in the monstrance on the altar in church until 10:30pm. The Blessed Sacrament must never be alone during this time. You may sign up to attend for an hour every week or walk in whenever you can.

What do I need to do when I arrive for my hour or visit?
Please try to show up on time for your scheduled hour; every minute you are late is a minute that the adorer you are replacing needs to stay. Once you arrive, please sign-in by placing a check mark next to your name and the time you arrive and when you leave. This is the recommended way that churches with perpetual Adoration keep a record. The sign-in is not to keep tabs on adorers, but provides us with assurance that the Blessed Sacrament is never left alone, and helps us identify those hours when we need to schedule additional adorers.

What do I do during Adoration?
Before you enter your pew, genuflect before the Blessed Sacrament.  Ask the Holy Spirit to be present to you as you pray.  Give thanks for your blessings, pray for vocations, our parish, and your personal needs. It is also important to realize that you do not need to do or say anything during this private Holy Hour. All that you have to do is be present to the One who is present to you, for it is in this silence that the Lord speaks to us. May you find your weekly visit with our Lord to be a high point for you, and that your personal spirituality will be deepened by the experience.

There is a bookcase and containers with Catholic books, leaflets, rosaries and devotional materials for your use.  If you find a book you would like to continue reading at home, please fee free to take it with you and return it in a timely manner.

Will there be anyone else there during my Adoration hour?
We are planning for a minimum of two per hour. On occasion, there may be only one adorer. Our goal is to have enough adorers so that we will have at least two scheduled adorers for every hour of Adoration.

Can we bring children to Adoration?
Children are welcome, but we ask that you talk to them about Adoration beforehand so that understand that they are in a reverent environment. A book bag with children's Catholic books is next to the sign in book.

If I am currently a substitute, can I show up periodically without making a weekly commitment?
Absolutely. We ask all adorers to sign-in, even if you have not made a monthly commitment.

What do I do if the adorer for the hour after mine doesn't show up?
They may be delayed by traffic so please wait a few minutes or consult with another adorer to decide who will stay in church. If you have a cell phone, call that person (all names and phone numbers will be listed on the inside cover of the sign in book). If you cannot reach the next person, contact an Adoration committee member (also listed inside the sign in book). Check if anyone in the church office will cover for you. If you cannot reach anyone, you will need to stay until someone else arrives. This has never happened; God is looking out for us.

What if I can't make it for my scheduled hour?
Find a substitute for your hour on the substitute list. Ask another reliable person to replace you for that hour. Call a committee member.

What if I need to change my scheduled weekly hour?
Call a committee member.

Will Adoration ever be cancelled?
In case of severe weather or power failure, please call the church. If there is a funeral on Tuesday, the times for Adoration will be changed. You will be notified and can come at a different time during the day.

It is most important that the Risen Christ is never left alone during Adoration.

Heavenly Father, we pray that you come into our presence as we prepare for Adoration at St. Timothy Parish. Increase the faith of our parishioners and the Real Presence of Your Son, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Eucharist. We commit ourselves to adore Him, to give Him thanks, and to make reparation for our sins. We need Your peace in our hearts and among all nations. We need conversion from our sins and the mercy of Your infinite forgiveness. May we attain this through our prayer and our union with the Eucharistic Lord. Please send down the Holy Spirit upon all our parishioners to give them love, courage, strength, and willingness to respond to our call to Eucharistic Adoration. We beseech You to increase Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in all parishes around the world.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen
