 Guidelines for Captains

Six Captains are responsible each for a five hour block of time. Captains

make sure that their five-hour time blocks run smoothly and that the Guardians that are scheduled during those hours are faithful to their commitments. The responsibilities of each Captain include:

1.  Assuring that the hours that they are responsible for are always covered and substitutes are found as needed.

2.  Communicate to your assigned Guardians that they should call or email (assuring contact) their Captains when they are unable to keep their commitment. They should make every effort to find substitute Guardians and notify their Captain of the name and phone number of the substitute. If they cannot find a substitute, their Captain will assist them.

3.  Captains will keep attendance records for their five-hour time blocks, spot trends in Guardians’ attendance and adjust coverage as needed.

4.  Captains will keep the Program Coordinator informed of any changes in the scheduled Guardians so that the Program Coordinator can maintain an accurate master schedule.

5.  Continually motivating current Guardians and seeking new Guardians to Assure that their five-hour time block well covered.
