St. Timothy Pastoral Council Minutes

     August 15, 2006

Present:  Father Rick Bolte, Jerry Grefer, Jim Sholar, Larry Lense, Marin Smith, Rick Hoban, Mark Dornoff, Jerry Beatrice, Mary Brzinski, and Randy Herbert.

1. Opening Prayer offered by Jerry Grefer.

2.  Joe Meiman presented plans for a permanent roof over the back patio behind Brodenick Hall, normally used for the fish fry area.  The Finance Council has approved $3000.00 for the project.  The plans will cost  $1648.72, not including a fence above the wall.  The fence is considered necessary for safety, and various options were discussed.  Further research will be done on the fence.  Mark Dornoff moved to approve the roof plans, seconded by Mary Brzinski.  The plans were approved unanimously.  

3.   Fr. Bolte discussed the All Parish Planning Day, scheduled for August 26.  He wishes Pastoral Council members to be present, and spread throughout the room.  The goal is a one-year plan for parish improvement.  The morning session will be to create objectives and set priorities.  In the afternoon, time will be spent consolidating ideas and sending them to the appropriate committees.

4.   Pillar Reports

a. The Outreach report was presented by Mary Brzinski.  (See attached).

The main item of the report was that 450 backpacks filled with 3000

School supply items were distributed to inner-city children on August

5^th.

b.  There was no Worship Committee report; however, Larry Lense did indicate that no-shows of ministers at the Saturday Mass is becoming a problem.  A letter will be going out with the next monthly schedule to encourage finding substitutes when a minister knows he/she will be absent.

c.  No other Pillar Reports were given.

5.   Fr. Bolte gave the Pastor’s Report.  There will be a new priest arriving         

               about the end of the August.  He is from India, and his main purpose for 

               coming is enculturation.  Fr. Bolte has also been approached regarding a

               project for Eagle Scouts.  His idea is a meditative walking path around the 

               pond on the parish property.

6.   Election of new PC officers followed.  Results are as follows:

a.  Chair: Mary Brzinski, nominated by Gerry Beatrice, seconded by

Marin Smith, no other nominations.

                    b. Vice Chair: Jerry Beatrice, nominated by Jim Sholar, seconded by

                        Randy Herbert, no other nominations.

                    c. Recording Secretary:  Randy Herbert, nominated by Mary Brzinski,

                        seconded by Marin Smith, no other nominations.

          7.   Pillar Representatives were also re-aligned as follows:

                        Outreach:  Jim Sholar

                        Worship:  Larry Lense

                        Community:  Jerry Grefer

                        Faith Formation:  Marin Smith

                        Finance Committee:  Rick Hoban

                        Mark Dornoff:  parish survey Ad Hoc committee.

8.   Larry Lense offered the closing prayer.

         9.   The next PC meeting is scheduled for September 19, 2006 at 7:15 pm in

               the Parish Center.  Larry Lense has volunteered to offer the opening

               prayer.  The Executive Committee will meet on September 12^th, after

               the 8:00 am Mass.
