St. Timothy Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes Present: Fr. Rick Bolte, Fr. Jacob Varghese, Dave Shefchik, Jim Sholar, Jerry Beatrice, Al Kovacic, Rick Harvey, Steve Lemberg, Marin Smith, and Randy Herbert. Absent: John Gould and Mark Dornoff. 1. Jerry Beatrice offered the opening prayer, and the March minutes were approved. 2. Pillar Reports A. John Gould was absent, but had sent the finance report to the members by e-mail. Fr. Bolte gave some detail and answered the questions that came up. The Offertory Program is working, with collections up about $34,000 over this time last year. Half of the increase goes to the diocese, and the excess is being used to make some needed repairs and improvements. B. There was no Worship Committee meeting in March. C. Jim Sholar presented the Outreach Committee minutes from the meeting on March 13 (see attached). The blood drive took place on March 25, and 39 units were collected. The Ministry Crawl, scheduled for April 5, has seven agencies on the agenda. The Brighton Recovery Center, a new agency for drug and alcohol dependent women in Boone County, has opened on Weaver Road. They are asking for community partners to supply items for rooms, and St. Tim’s will sponsor two. The rooms are registered at Target, and the committee hopes to be able to decorate them on April 17. D. Marin Smith presented the report for PSR (see attached). First Communion will take place for 2nd graders on Saturday, April 19. There will be two Masses at 11:00am and 2:00pm. There will be a reception after all Masses Sunday, April 20. Volunteer Appreciation Days for catechists and aides will be on Sunday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 30. Class schedule and content planning for the 2008-2009 school year is already under way. E. Fr. Jacob gave the report for the STYM and adult formation. The Youth Room is now open and in use. The group is still growing, with two new members at the last meeting. Apparently, bean bag chairs grow also. There are nine very large ones in the room for the young people to lounge on. Upcoming outreach projects for the STYM include serving dinners at Hosea House in April and for the parish seniors in May. For adult formation, Dr. Brendan Hill will be Tapping Into Theology April 7, with a presentation about Corrie ten Boom, who was sent to Auschwitz for sheltering Jews from the Holocaust. F. Rick Harvey gave the Community report (see attached). The Lenten Fish Frydays are over, and were truly a community project. It took 70 people each week to put them on, plus the folks who donated desserts. The final figures are not in yet, but an estimated $9000 was raised. The wine tasting was a huge success, with 105 people attending. 3. Steve Lemberg reported that nine new families registered in the parish in March. We continue to grow at a tremendous rate. Leslie Duggan has formed an ad hoc committee to look into reviving the regions. Steve proposed that the parish present a gift to newcomers with their information packets, possibly a crucifix or a Bible. He is looking into the costs involved for next month’s meeting. 4. Dave Shefchik and the sign committee will have a proposal ready for the parish in time for the DPAA weekend on April 19/20. He had several pictures of possible signs and landscaping which looked very good. There was some discussion about location, and staying clear of the underground sewage pipes near Highway 42. The estimated costs are not complete yet, but should be around $20,000. Since that is well below the funds raised last year for the windows, the possibility of including a new set of stations was also discussed. 5. Jerry Beatrice gave a report on some electrical upgrades done over the last several weeks by Jim Fussinger. He has installed spotlights over the crucifix, and track lights by the stained glass windows. He has also installed outdoor lights near the stairs and upgraded the power supply in Brodnick Hall, especially the kitchen. Thank you, Jim, for the much needed improvements. 6. Pastor’s Report. A. Fr. Bolte attended the last Facilities Committee meeting, where it was agreed that any new construction should be done so that PSR will all be in one building. Four possibilities were discussed: 1) build a new church and create classrooms in the current one, 2) add new construction between the church and the parish center, 3) add new construction on the other end of the parish center, and 4) put a new building in the back of the property as a possible foundation for a school. The committee agreed to hire an architect to guide the process. B. Deb Thomas is working on the proposal for the kindergarten to be submitted to the diocese. She will attend classes to be certified as principal, and in the interim, Fr. Bolte will be designated headmaster. C. At the Easter Vigil, 23 people entered the Catholic Church, including 15 baptisms. D. Leigh Ann Divine has gotten a bid for a new computer system for the parish, but will probably not make a purchase until January. E. The Eagle Scouts are working on the meditation walk. A parishioner has suggested including a memorial for all the miscarried babies of the parish. F. Father is soliciting nominations for the Pastoral Council and Finance Council this month. The discernment process will take place in May. 7. The next PC meeting will be May 6. Al Kovacic volunteered to offer the opening prayer, and Steve Lemberg the closing prayer. 8. Rick Harvey offered the closing prayer, and the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully

Outreach Report
Outreach Committee Meeting Minutes:
Meeting date: March 13, 2008 Lois opened the meeting with prayer.
Feb.Grant: St.Vincent dePaul: Mark
gave report of status of Feb. grant project with St. William Parish.
Winter storm prevented beginning the project on Saturday, March 8th.
Weathering permitting, it will begin Saturday, March 15th at 9:00 a.m..
Approximately 9 volunteers, including members of St. William's will
begin tearing out carpeting and cleaning floors. The project will take
more than one day. Deacon Mike ask volunteers who could, help during the
week as well. Mark recommended we do not attempt to turn exterior door
as it is part of the wall and seems to be beyond our expertise. Tim
Potts had offered the services of his staff electrician for the project,
but with Tim's passing, we are again in need of an electrician.
April grant project with CASA.
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in Brodnick Hall on Monday, April 14 at
6:00 p.m. All invitations to CASA volunteers were sent last week. We
have 4 RSVP's out of 30 thus far. Invitations have been hand addressed
to 47 local Boone Co. churches. They will be mailed Holy Week. The
dinner is being coordinated by Crystal Pohlman. She is looking at a few
catering options and menu options. The dinner needs to be kept simple
with easy set-up, clean-up and easy transitioning into the guest speaker
event that follows at 7:30, as well as cost effective so not to
compromise grant dollars. Help with the dinner i.e. set-up, serving,
clean-up will be done by the committee. On the same night, the Community
Awareness presentation by Colleen Bohman, CASA director, will begin at
7:30- doors will open to the public at 7:15. A sign-in table will be set
up. PSR's Breaking Bread Together will bake cookies for the evening. It
was decided that instead of charging for soft drinks, we would provide
complimentary coffee, lemonade, and bring in 2 liter drinks to be served
with the cookies. Ministry Crawl: Welcome House had to cancel their involvement due to scheduling conflict. BeConcerned also expressed a concern to commit. HONK is replacing Welcome House, and BeCon has been dropped. We will visit 7 agencies and have lunch at the Golden Corral where the party room has been reserved for the group. Sign-up will begin this weekend as Lesley will talk about the Crawl at all Masses. $15 per person will cover lunch, t-shirt, and transportation. Bus is limited to 45 people. Route is planned and has been sent to participating organizations. Carol will work on visuals for display throughout the gathering space to promote the crawl. Payment envelopes will be placed in the gathering space for bus seat reservations. Each ministry will be displayed on a thematic board along with the route. Example: A baby bottle shaped board will display CareNet.
Stewardship Fair: Sign up sheet was passed around to man the Outreach table. Three volunteers are still needed for the Saturday Mass, 9:30, and 11:30 Masses. The idea of using a rocket with fireworks soaring would be used. Sharon and Carol will design and make the display.
Brighton Recovery Center for Women: New residential program in Boone County for drug and alcohol addiction to open on Weaver Rd. It will include 38 efficiency apartments. The center is asking community partners to sponsor a room(s) by supplying the "softer" supplies needed beyond furniture. A list of items was shared with everyone. The decision was made to share the opportunity with other St. Tim organizations such as MOPS, and the Outreach committee would sponsor 2 rooms giving the parish an opportunity to provided needed items through Target's gift registry. Thursday, March 20, Lesley, Sharon, Sue, and Carol will shop Target for the gift items to be placed on the registry. The parish will be made aware of the sponsorship and gift registry after Easter. The committee then will take all items to the Center and decorate the apartments on April 17-18.
I Have Wings Foundation: Our November grant recipient has their big fund raiser, Spring Bling, Saturday April 26 at Receptions 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. It is a luncheon with entertainment, gift bags, door prizes, and silent auction. A possible grant project could involve supporting next year's event. Lesley will check to see if there is a charge for the event.
Spring Collection: Due to the
winter storm, collection was sparse. Boy Scouts did not make
arrangements to deliver to BeConcerned as in the past. Lesley was able
to find someone who could. Candy Bar drive was a success given the short amount of time to publicize. More advanced planning next year will bring more success. The PSR 2nd and 3rd grade students dyed 26 dozen hard boiled Easter eggs for Hosea House. It went very well, an easy, fun project that will be added to the calendar next year.
February tithing report was shared showing the affect of the Parish Offertory Program and the additional 1% tithing increase. The Outreach Assistance fund had a deposit of $910 as a result. This fund is set up to help with those seeking help who are in crisis mode i.e. help with eviction notice, utility cut off, help with groceries, diapers, etc... The question was asked if the funds can help with other outreach such as grant projects. Expenses associated with grant projects have always been deducted from the grant funds. Currently the account is set up to aid those in crisis mode only.
Blood drive: Jim shared an update
on the blood drive set for March 25 at St. Tim's.
