July Grant

Brighton Recovery Center for Women

The Brighton Recovery Center for Women, located in Florence, is a 100 bed facility for indigent and/or homeless women, ages 18 and older.  Its mission is to combat substance abuse and alcoholism as well as to help end homelessness.  The curriculum used is based on the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The women are provided with life skills which include job preparation, parenting, relapse prevention, nutrition, mediation and spirituality.  The program takes approximately twelve months to complete.

The grant funds will provide the Center with three computers to establish a computer lab for residents who are nearing the completion phase of their recovery program in which the residents are preparing to enter aftercare and begin transition plans to return to the community.   The details on the outreach project  and the volunteer opportunities will be made available the weekend of July 10-11 when a representative from the Center will be our guest speaker at all Masses. To learn more about the Recovery Center and other Brighton Center programs, visit www.brightoncenter.com.
