| New Perceptions was founded in
1952 and serves children birth to three years
old, and adults 18 years and older with mental
retardation/developmental disabilities. It is
located in Edgewood, promotes the welfare of
individuals with disabilities and their
families by providing opportunities for
education, growth and employment in a normalized
setting, in order to facilitate each individual's
achievement to their maximum potential. The special project for which the
grant is being awarded involves having the cement
work floor in the warehouse section of their
facilities painted with a special-formulated,
non-slipping paint. This is an area where the
adult clients with mental
retardation/developmental disabilities work
on-site every day to perform many of their job
functions when completing assembly\packaging
jobs.
As with every St. Timothy grant, an
outreach project will be scheduled with New
Perceptions later in the month giving
parishioners an opportunity to tie their gifts of
time and talent with their April monthly tithing
which funds the grant. Remember, the more you
give the more we can give to New Perceptions.
Look for details about the project in upcoming
bulletins.
