Spiritual Adoption Program

January 22 marks the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court Decision that legalized abortion 38 years ago.  Because of this infamous decision, 1.4 million unborn children have died annually in the United States.  With assaults on human life across the life spectrum increasing at an alarming rate, the Catholic Church is  unwavering about protecting unborn human life.

We are asking our St. Timothy families to make a commitment to pray daily for an unborn baby who may be in danger of being aborted, by participating in our Spiritual Adoption program.  Through the Spiritual Adoption Program, St. Timothy’s families will be given an opportunity to spiritually “adopt” a child and pray each day that he or she will be carried to term, and experience the fullness of life as God intended. We hope you and your family will take this opportunity to participate and experience the power of prayer for God’s most precious of gift of life.

Prayer cards will be made available in January, and for the next nine months, “Little Ones” posters will be displayed in the Gathering Space. These posters will chronicle your “adopted” baby’s development in the womb.  Each month, a new poster will be displayed, and you and your family can enjoy seeing how your “adopted baby” is growing, and also have an opportunity to read a “thank you for praying for me” note from your baby that will also be displayed alongside each month’s new poster.  In addition, there will be information in the bulletin and Companion to help keep track of your spiritually adopted baby as it grows and develops each month.

At the end of nine months during October, Respect Life Month, St. Timothy Families for Life will be sponsoring our annual Baby Shower.  What a fitting way to end our Spiritual Adoption program and celebrate the “births” of our spiritually adopted babies by showering mothers in need, who have courageously chosen life for their babies, with essential items for their baby.
