Parish School of Religion
Special
Children
In our parish, we have a number of special
children who do not learn well in a regular classroom. Our new program
will express our efforts to share our faith with these special children
and our desire to reach out to these children and their families who
often need some support and encouragement.
Parents of these children will pay the
same fees as the other PSR students.
Since space is limited, we may not
have room for all the children who apply. Priority will be given to
those whose families have been registered and active in our parish.
Interviews will be held to determine the best class for the child. Volunteers will also be needed for the program.
-
Collaborative Class This program will
have the children attend the regular PSR class for about 20 minutes
for the opening prayer and introduction to the lesson. They will
then move with their teacher or faith buddy to a special classroom
where they will work on the lesson designed for each child.

Resource Classroom These students
will start in a special classroom. There they will begin with
prayer, listen to the Gospel story in a way designed best for their
comprehension, and then work on a lesson designed especially for
them. Their time in class would last 30 minutes and they would join
their family at Mass at the same time as the children returning from
the Liturgy of the Word for Children (at the time of the
collection).
